How to get links without linking back?

Sunday, January 16th, 2005

1. First and the most Important thing is to create good Content. Create site for visitors, not for search engines. If your site will be really interesting and valuable it will get links natural way: other webmasters will link you, discuss about you, refer to you. Keep your site fresh and updated, write new articles, create blog and forum, give some resources for free, this is the best way to get links.

2. Write reviews and testimonials to other websites. Usually website owners will give you a link back if your review is good and interesting. It’s additional content to them and another link to you.

3. Submit your site to online directories. There are lots of directories where you can publish your link for free. Biggest and the most powerful directories charges money for the inclusion. Sometimes it is one time review fee only, sometimes its yearly fee, sometimes it is a monthly one. You should carefully check the link if you intend to pay for it. The link from Most powerful directories always worth some investment.

4. Write Articles about things you know, about things you see, about things you do. This is one of the best techniques for getting one-way inbound links to your website. Many webmasters are looking for more content for their websites and ezines. You can provide them with that content by writing articles and submitting them to websites, ezines, and article directories. Articles are the copyrighted material and you can publish your name and site at the end of article. Webmasters may not use your article without mentioning you. Eventually it will become the huge part of your links.

5. Publish your own articles directory. Webmasters will try to add articles to your website and get links. For this you can ask a link back.

6. Go blogging. Blogs are very powerful these days. Publish your own blog and update it frequently. If the content in your blog will be interesting, other website owners will link your information as valuable source because of constant update. Submit your blog to various Blog directories where users will be able to see information you write.

7. Participate in various Blogs, leave proper comments, leave your opinion about things author talks in his blog. Do not spam blogs, every comment must be related to theme and topic. Lots of blogs allows you to add a link to your website.

8. Publish your ebook. When you will write lots of articles, comments and opinions about one or another topic, you can organise your own material into ebook and publish it freely. Your links along with your affiliate links can be published within your ebook.

9. Always try to spend some of your earned money on online advertising and link purchase. You can find good and related links to your site at very low price. It will depend on your ability to communicate and negotiate with other webmasters in internet.

10. Enable RSS/Atom feeds in your website. These are the headlines with short descriptions about things happening in your site. You can publish these feeds in various RSS directories and get additional exposure and links. Other webmasters will add you feeds to their sites if your feeds will be interesting and updated constantly.

Web developers mistakes

Most common mistakes by web developers when creating commercial project

Mistake Nr.1: Creating a Website with Flash. Visitors come to your website using various types of different computers, internet connection speeds and configuration settings… What looks great on your system, doesn’t mean that will look great on another system. Flash is not clearly readable by Search engine spiders, so your site is not clearly visible and ranked well if you use Flash.

Mistake Nr.2: Creating site like “Internet catalog”. We can see lots of sites, lots of products, lots of websites promotes the same products. All this is confused to average internet user. Site owners usually think that they need to put everything on web, every single product, they think that user wants to see everything they have, that’s why they don’t miss anything and put online. Its wrong thinking. If you give visitor too many choices, they will become confused, and confused people never buys anything.

Mistake Nr.3: Optimizing Your Sales Site for the Search Engines. It is good to optimize the pages to the search engines. But usually developers understand this incorrectly. Marketer will add lots of keywords, reword your sales text to the keyword rich text. It might higher your position in serps, but it will lower the conversion. The balance must be maintained, create websites to People, not for search engines. Sales text is much more effective than keywords based text.

Mistake Nr.4: Having a “Graphics-Based” Website. Don’t get me wrong, there are some themes where huge graphics are needed and they lead to better sales, but the majority just looses the sales, because of too heavy graphic information. If graphics attracts the eye more than the product of sales text, you just lost another sale.

Mistake Nr.5: Designing a Website with Zero Marketing Experience. Most web designers have no idea how to make money on the internet, with
anything other than their design services. It’s not their fault – they simply have no or very little marketing and sales experience. The majority creates websites with wrong structure, uses wrong scripts. They make website hardly readable for spiders unintentionally… Just because they don’t know how to do that if the purpose is to sell on the web.

Mistake Nr.6: Bad Marketing. The majority still don’t understand that if marketing techniques will be used improperly, they can make damage to your site. Lots of people finds the best way to promote business by sending bulk emails, by spamming forums, blogs, by exchanging the links with anyone, even by spamming their own content with keywords, making doorway pages or cloaking content. You really need to be professional to do that, if you just heard these things and don’t understand what I’m talking about, then better don’t do anything, it will lead you to better success later by hiring marketing professional.

Microsoft Antispyware

Recently Microsoft acquired “Giant anti spyware” program and started the fight with Spyware and adware. They named the program “Microsoft Antispyware” and are giving free Beta download of the program. This step affected all other Spyware removal programs who charge money for the removal. The sales drastically dropped. Microsoft announced that this program will be free as long as it will be in beta testing period. They said that there will be another Beta copy of the program and the final release will be after careful feedback of Microsoft users. The final release will not be Freely distributed. People judge this differently. Some says that this is another smart step from Microsoft, first they do the system with security holes, and then they distribute commercial program to protect from intrusion and remove parasites. Others are happy that Huge corporations finally admitted that spyware is a threat and started to fight against it. In my opinion Microsoft developers don’t leave security holes on intention. MS product are very popular and they are under constant attack by various hackers. Other programs are not so popular and not very interesting to hack. That’s why it looks like the product is done with holes on intention. Anyway is Microsoft antispyware good program? Only the time will tell, this will depend on what will be defined as spyware by MS. For example they can weaken Claria and whenU definitions like other programs did. Microsoft published criteria under which parasites will be identified. Criteria falls into 4 categories: Distribution/Installation/Removal Criteria Behavioral Criteria Security Criteria Privacy Criteria there is quite interesting statement: Programs which “Offers an affiliate program that pays a fee for distributing the software” might add a program is added for detection. Is that the End of Affiliate business? interesting…. I’ll keep updated this post after careful review of Microsoft antispyware program.

Page rank

People still messing with Page rank. Some even don’t know what it is, others thinks that its the main Criteria to look after. There are lots of different term used in the market:
Toolbar PageRank (PR), Google Directory PR, Real PageRank, PR Algorithm, PageRank Devalued, Goggle Dance, PR Bleed, Visible PR, PageRank Updates…
Some people don’t care about it at all. Some people mixes their meanings. There is whole myths created about Page Rank and its value.
Various webmaster forums are full of questions:
What is PR? How PR is calculated? How can I get PR6 and higher? Is it worth to buy PR9, PR8 links? I dropped to PR0, what should I do? Do I need high PageRank links to high Rankings? What is PageRank really good for anyway? Is PageRank meaningless now?
These questions and many more I’ll explain in my weblog. Keep visiting and post your questions.
