This document is used to inform the victim that his or hers files are doomed and that the only way to get them back is to make the payment. What’s more, you can also notice changes in your background. Typically, the background is changed to the graphic image of the file’s content. It is believed that this is done to regularly remind you of the terrible situation you are dealing with.

Beware that it is known that the virus spreads via spam. The misleading email is usually filled with the fake invoice or similar attachment. If you are looking at it right now, do not open it because you can get infected with Locky ransomware. In case you are infected, I would recommend you to remove _Locky_recover_instructions.txt and additional files of Locky from your computer. Certainly, the elimination of its files won’t help you to get your files back to you. However, it might be better than doing nothing.
