Beware of the fake Microsoft Security Essentials Alert which is a Trojan that is able to install 5 different rogue programs to the system. The programs are installed under the names of Major Defense Kit, Pest Detector 4.1, Red Cross Antivirus, Peak Protection 2010 or AntiSpy Safeguard. All 5 programs basically works in the same manner: they imitate scanning the system for viruses, report finding tons of detections and later on attempt to sell its so called full version of the program.

So how the Trojan infiltrates the program into the system? First of all, it imitates the alert from the legitimate Windows Microsoft Security Essentials Program. The alert claims that a Trojan was detected on your computer and tells you to purchase one of the above listed programs in order to clean the system. Once you click on the alert, the program is installed automatically.

The application is started once you reboot your computer. At first it starts a scanner and imitates looking for infections. Then the program offers purchasing its full version in order to clean the files that were not able to clean with a trial version of a program. Moreover, the application causes tons of security alerts prompting you into installing a full version of the program. Basically, the application does everything in order to make you pay for it.

However, you should not trust Major Defense Kit, Pest Detector 4.1, Red Cross Antivirus, Peak Protection 2010 or AntiSpy Safeguard as none of them are real antispyware removal tools. If you detect any of the programs on your system, make sure to remove it as soon as possible.

Trojan.generic is one of the most wildly spread Trojans that causes plenty of malicious actions that are difficult to notice but are very dangerous to your computer system. It is not fully identified and belongs to a few families of Trojans. In some cases, even the best antivirus programs are not able to detect and remove it.

Trojan.generic may disable your antivirus program and makes security vulnerabilities which allows other computers to get full access to your computer system. It may also be a reason of pop up ads which are displayed when the system is infected with some rogue program.

Trojan.generic keeps acting in the background continuously and may reveal your personal information unless you remove it. You are strongly advised to scan your computer with a reputable antispyware program in order to get rid of Trojan.generic as soon as possible.

Podnuha!sd6

Monday, August 3rd, 2009

Podnuha!sd6 is a newer version of a Podnuha rootkit. These two rootkits does not differ much each from another and both develop the same malicious actions. Being created to hide the hackers’ interventions to the system, rootkits download adware or other malware to the computer system and the user is aggressively promoted to install bogus antispyware. What is more, Podnuha!sd6 is responsible for letting the attackers reach infected PC and use personal information, saved on the machine’s hard drive.
You should be careful while surfing on the Web, because the Podnuha rootkit normally creeps into systems via software vulnerabilities, scripts in particular adult websites, malicious attachments in e-mails, or unprotected shareware. Remove Podnuha!sd6 as it is detected on your PC!

Dangerous Trojan

Thursday, April 10th, 2008

A threat named ‘Dangerous Trojan’ is dangerous in two ways: first of all, it is a trojan capable of installing other malwares, and second – it promotes fraudulent security tools. Dangerous Trojan can be detected by reputable anti-spyware. But if you don’t use anti spyware and all of sudden there is one reporting Dangerous Trojan, you should be concerned. Dangerous Trojan distributes IEDefender, Files Secure and some other security tools that are corrupt. Even if you pay for the full version of such anti spyware, it won’t function. Dangerous Trojan is part of a scam to milk money. Remove Dangerous Trojan as soon as possible.
